Choosing
A Consultant
Three Questions to Ask
When
Interviewing A Wedding Consultant
1.
Is wedding consulting your primary business? If you
have looked in the Yellow Pages or on the Internet for Wedding
Consultants, you no doubt have noticed that many other types of
businesses often have a listing under the Wedding Consultants
category. You may find caterers, DJs, florists, officiants,
photographers, and others who offer “consulting” in addition to
their primary business. This “consulting” is usually limited to
referral of other vendors with whom they have worked and is in
no way comparable to the comprehensive service provided by a
professional wedding consultant.
2. What kind of training have you
had?
Look for a consultant who has availed him/herself of the many
educational opportunities in the wedding field, one who
continues to further his/her knowledge through seminars and
conferences.
3. Are
you involved in any professional organizations?
Anyone who is serious about what they do joins the professional
organization for it. Being a member of an international
professional organization and participating in its educational
programs and networking opportunities says a person is serious
about his/her work. Being involved in other wedding-related
organizations allows the professional wedding consultant to
maintain relationships with wedding vendors and to keep abreast
of the latest trends and ideas for weddings.
